Two Words...World Cup.
Such has been my life since it started June 11th. My entire day is often centered around what teams play when. In all seriousness I've even contemplated asking off from work for the days Brasil is scheduled to play. I'm more than a little obsessed, but it seems like I'm the minority in the United States. At the gym, only a small handful of the masses of people there ever even glance at the tv screening the games. It blows my mind. How can something that is such a HUGE deal to the rest of the world be mere background noise for our own country? I encourage anyone reading this to watch at least part of this momentous tournament if you don't already do so. There just seems to be something special about so many countries coming together as one to so passionately represent their nation in a worldwide tournament. Maybe it's just me being abnormally gushy regarding culture. Maybe I'm just too obsessed with soccer in general. Or maybe one day the U.S. can come to appreciate futbol. Until then, I remain the minority of Americans, an ever so loyal soccer fanatic.
Joga Bonito Brasil!!!!
"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
